IT'S DIWALI!!!

The Diwali bash begins.Lights, sweets, markets buzzing with people.Out we are buying for ourselves, family, friends, friends of families-and you thought there is an economic slump?

C'mon,Diwali comes once in a year,we can't just let it go.and what about the blasts?is it safe to visit these markets?....Of course,we are giving a slap on the face of terrorists by showing them how we don't care.CCTVs or no CCTVs,security checks or no security checks we will go,afterall it's Diwali.Aaahh!!Diwali, the festival of lights, the victory of good over evil and may be crackers and smoke, and dust and pollution?

Crackers, sensitive issue huh?Teachers yell, environmentalists shout-'the ozone is depleting!!!!' C'mon, you've been saying this since we don't know when. The ozone is here till now and it will remain to be.We will burst crackers, after all Diwali comes just once in a year.

Diwali comes just once in a year but it leaves an impact that will be seen in the coming generations as well.It has been said that the smoke and dust produced every Diwali will lead to children being born with chronic asthma.Scary.You say we should live in the present and scare by telling us about the future? Not a very nice thing to do.Even if bursting crackers means setting your hard earned money to fire, even if we die coughing,we will burst crackers because IT JUST COMES ONCE IN A YEAR!

Chocolates,mithai-we gorge on all that we can,as much as we can.Diabetes, obesity, cholesterol????
What are medicines and 'health clubs' for?People are starving, food shortage is affecting so many families. They are not the only ones, the economic slump has created problems for all of us..............

But,we shop,party and celebrate,after all it's Diwali and......

oh!he is like me!!!!

amidst lights and music, this group of children,on their wheelchairs and with crutches created magic.they performed the dance drama to the best of their 'abilities'.yes, after witnessing their performance,it dawned upon me that they weren't disabled but were differently abled....their eyes glistened with dreams just like any other child.their dreams were as simple as gaining acceptance amongst us(the supposedly 'normal' people).

they want our love, our empathy.....mind you-empathy and not sympathy.your friend suffering from polio doesn't want you to be with him/her like a shadow, but wants the buildings to be barrier free.another classmate of yours doesn't want you to push his wheel chair everywhere but wants ramps around, where he can help himself.he needs your understanding and not pity.he is different, yet he is the same.

the bridge

i've experienced it once,or may be twice-
i am confused,i am in a turmoil.
we have differences.
even different prefernces-
whether it be friends
or following trends...
we are different-
weren't they adolescents ever,i wonder,
or were they born adults,i ponder.
the thoughts just confuse me futher.....
well...its not a myth(sadly)..this generation gap does exist.
but i guess,with a li'l understanding
and co-operation from both sides,
we can happily co-exist!!!

Act 1-Scene 1-first day in college!!!

Excited-i wasn't....nervous-well,i wasn't.....curious..hmm..may be.So,the day began....i had made arrangemments with a cab for my daily parade to college ;) ....so,there i was waiting for the cab to arrive but to my surprise i waited for an hour, frantically called the driver about 100 times, just to know that the cab driver was waitin for me at some other place.....what a start,i thought.....i reached the college(thankfully!!)just to find unknown faces all over the place....i somehow managed to find some familiar faces and just 10 mins later there i was blabbering my mouth out!!!i made few friends....we then had our orientation, which was pretty good(way beyond my expectation actually!!)....and then i suddenly realised my brain(yes,it does exist!!)beeping-INFORMATION OVERLOAD!!!!there was too much to digest and this place was completely different from school.....but there was 1 similarity, except of studies....-friends...who made each upcoming days so wonderful!!!!!!
